Federal Electronic Payment Requirement

The IRS is transitioning to fully electronic payments for both refunds and payments due, as mandated by a federal Executive Order 14247 effective 9/30/2025.

 

Make payments on IRS.gov

  • Select Make a Payment
  • Choose either Direct Pay with Bank Account or Pay in Online Account (we recommend you use the Online Account, you may need to create an ID.me account in order to login)
  • If you choose the first option, you will still need to verify your identity, so you will need your 2024 and 2025 tax returns handy in order to answer the questions. 2025 data may not be available right away, so then 2024 data can be used.
  • An online account will give you access to your tax records, payments, and balances. Keep in mind, balances may take a few weeks to update once your return has been filed.

Due to time constraints, we will NOT be able to assist you with the IRS website. If you run into difficulties with their website, you will need to contact the IRS at 800-829-1040.

 

Pennsylvania

PA is not yet requiring online payments, but we do recommend setting up an account with them to view your tax records, payments, and balances.
